    Smoked early tail lights?

    Hi guys,
I have a 1987 vert and I have been thinking of smoking my tail lights, since I can not afford to buy a good set from startec:)
So I search the web and I found a good DIY http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/lig...-way-pics.html
Wich I am going to attempt:)
And before I do it I need to know what do you guys think, should I ?
Does Anyone have done this or similar process?

Nobody has ever done this to an e30. Do it and report back.

jkjk at least one third of everyone here has done it in many different ways.

I pretty much did what they did. still havent cleared mine though just incase a cop pulls over I can sand some of. I made mine pretty much black. I got pulled 3 times for dim lights so I just upped the wattage in the bulb and haven't been bothered with since. Will clear this summer. Mine are pretty much black. Also have extra pair un smoked incase fix it ticket.

Since the Startec is out of the question, I think i will proceed with the nite shade and will post the results here.
I am thinking 1 coat + clear. Do not want to make them black.
            Thank you all :)

I have used VHT for both smoke and all red and have had succes with both, I'd recommend using it.

I second this - brighter (high output) bulbs and double the bulbs. look here: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=190578

You want them dark when they're off, but when they work, they should be visible, the brighter the better. After all, when you stop, it's nice when the guy behind you stops too, right?
