I just noticed that i can hear a tick but there is no tail light or indicator light showing up when the left blinker is on.

Assuming by "tail light or indicator light" you mean the front and rear signal lamps,I just fixed the same problem yesterday (only on the right side).

Bottom line was the blue\black wire to the switch had a break in it so I desoldered it, spliced in & shrink wrapped about 3 inches of new wire and its as good as new. Since yours is left side the blue\red feeds the lights so check for on\off juice at the switch terminal. That will tell you if its the switch or a wire to track down.

not to intrude but im having the same problem where would those wires be located? in the steering column the ones that lead up into the actual turn signal switch. so would i need to pull off the lower dashboard thing to take a look at those wires?
