85 sedan no third brake light?

Just wondering if certain cars came without third brake lights?
My 85 sedan don't have one and doesn't appear to have any indications on even having one mounted.

Third brake lights where set as standard equipment on 86 cars. Other stuff like sidemarkers are 68, padded dash 66, headrest 68, and so on with other small stuff.

How about the o2 warning light on the dash that is a one time use. BMW says to disable it when it lights up which is at about 30k. How's that for forward thinking design. My 84 318i has one

They can be added, lots of folks do this. Hella makes some nice aftermarket models, LED of course, that work on differently angled rear glass. I think the #38 is best for the E30, the middle in their range of 3.

It won't be monitored by the check control, still a good idea for broadcasting to (waking up) the people behind you, and may save your rear end.

Passenger vehicles were required to include this from 1986 on, light trucks from 1995 on.

Yes only the M10 318i cars had this.

Correct...and mine still works after multiple o2 sensor swaps & 200k+:D

My 84 has a 3rd brake light, I was under the impression there was an early style and the late style which looks more aesthetically pleasing IMO.
