Welp, I took the plunge and got some ebay fog lights. I got a pair of clear ones. I kind of figured they would suck, but worst case I could use the lenses on my existing housings.
When I received them, they looked pretty good. Lenses appeared to be of decent quality and pretty thick. Then, I looked at the adjustment area and the tabs were cracked on both of them. Then, I noticed one of the ball and socket joints was not fully formed, and they only sent me one gasket. It looked like I could still make them work, but I emailed them anyway. They shipped another pair out, no questions asked.

I went to install these to see how they would fit. With the supplied brackets, the fit was a joke and the gaskets seemed a bit too tight. Fitting them to the factory brackets, I could get them to look somewhat decent, but i ended up breaking the adjustment tabs clean off. However, at this point the mis-formed joint started to give me problems and kept popping out. Also, I realized the connector on the passenger's side light wouldn't actually work. The socket mirrors that of the driver's side light. I just pulled the wire ends out of the plug and slid them over the contacts and they fit fine.
Also, after trying to install these, I would have just ripped the lenses off and installed them on my old housings. However, my old housing were destroyed. I don't think the inner lens should be rattling around inside of the housing. Also, the amount of rust in there was sort of kind of really fucking excessive.
The new pair that was shipped to me arrived and I dug into the box. First one I pull out looks perfect. Second one has a cracked adjustment tab, and the inner lens is pretty crooked.

So, that's my experience so far with these $60 lights.
Are they going to be better than cracked factory lights? Yeah.
Would I rather have factory lights? Not for $400.
Would the lenses be good on a factory housing? I think so, but I never fitted it up because mine were destroyed.
I'll be playing with them this weekend to try and make them fit a bit better.
