    Brightest non-hid bulb for ellipsoid's?

Wondering what's the brightest, non-hid drop in bulb i can fit into the low beam projectors.

Euro or US projectors? From my understanding the US projector took a 9006 and the euro an H1 bulb, but I may be very wrong. From my limited research one of the best 9006 bulbs is the Phillips X-treme Vision - http://www.usa.philips.com/c-p/9003X...light/overview $34/pair on amazon http://www.amazon.com/Philips-9006-X...me+vision+9006

I am prepping for a Morimoto H1 conversion in US Hella Ellipsoids and thinking of trying these bulbs out for a few weeks to better compare the difference between them and the Morimoto H1 and my current sealed beams.

if its a 9006 the brightest bulb is probably something along the lines of whats mentioned above.

in terms of H1, i believe you're best bet it to get some high output bulbs.
take a look at this link: http://store.candlepower.com/h1bulbs1.html

The lights are US projectors. I'm currently running a pair of ultra brights in my h4's and think those are decent enough but definitely think theres someone out there in the 9006 version with a higher illumination.
I'll definitely take a look at the ones posted above.

What do you mean by ultra brights? You mean SilverStar Ultra's? I have read the silverstar line is really not any better than most stock bulbs. Maybe a whiter cleaner looking light, but not ultimately that much better in actual depth/width. Same story with PIAA. Those Philips seem to get decent reviews though.

And isn't the US ellipsoid low beam a 9006/HB4, not an H4?

EDIT: I see the philips link I gave originally was for the 9003, they don't actually list the 9006 on their site anymore, not sure what that means.

Sorry for the confusion on my part good sir, just seeking some advice before i drop the money on some crap bulbs.

Two things. First, ANY tinted bulb is going to be less bright than an equivalent non-tinted bulb. If I remember correctly, the Silverstars are tinted blue.

Second, the brightest low beam you can get for the US projectors are HIR bulbs.

i thought of getting the phillips extreme ones because i read that they were the brightest, but i read a lot of reviews that said they didn't last very long. i ended up just buying plain old silverstars for like 22 bucks, they work well enough for me

OSRAM Silverstars are good bulbs, Sylvania Silverstars are crap.

But really, basically all halogen bulbs at the same wattage put out the same amount of light. Gotta step up in wattage to get any brighter. If you do though, you may need to upgrade the wiring a bit to handle the extra load.

Well, I use 55W Narva Rangepower+ which are noticeably brighter than stock at the expense of a little lifespan apparently. I'd recommend them 100% for anyone looking to upgrade H1 output at stock wattage.

Mine only lasted a year, so I went back to regular $15 bulbs.

Anything more than 55W starts to melt the housings. Plastic reflectors do not like heat. Good old cibie, hella's bosch glass light pre ellipsoids will take a 100W H1 with ease.

It hasn't been mentioned here, but there's also a delay in actuation when bulbs over stock wattage are installed. This can be especially annoying if you're trying to flash your high beams and they don't activate quickly enough.
