They lights themselves fit but you'll need to proper e30 mounting plate. The spacing of the mounting plate of the e34 doesn't work with an e30.

The lighting quality isn't good because the assemblies become shot over the years. The reflective surface on the back of the light gets burnt off and charred. You can disassemble the lights, clean out the inside, and respray the burnt out areas with a 'chrome' paint to get back some of the lighting.

You need the plastic (in europe they also had metal) 'buckets' that hold the lights in place.

Wait, I see you're in europe....your lights should be decent if they have the smiley cutouts.

Yes - but if you're talking about US ellipsoids, then you'll need the plastic US ellipsoid frames from an e30. If you're talking about the euro spec ellipsoids then you'll need the euro spec ellipsoid frames from an e30.

I think the metal frames were only used on the sealed beam cars.

huh? E34 ellipsoids are identicle to E30s, aside from the mounts.

For the euro lights, one manufacturer, Hella I think, used metal frames, and Bosch used plastics. Or something like that.

He's not from America, he's from Tbilisi, Georgia, the former soviet republic. So he probably doesn't want US ellipsoids.

yes u are right, i am from europe... i found brand new smoked E34 ellipsoids for sale, they are made in turkey and are lower quality than hella but they are great... so should i buy them? are they same size that are E30 lights (diameter)?? fixing is no problem, i can weld the frame and make appropriate holes in order to fix them... so do i buy them or no?

As far as what I've seen, it's the Bosch lights that tend to have metal frames on them. I know because my car had one Bosch side and one Hella side on it before I replaced the set with smoked Hellas from Germany (credit Mikeedler:))

Weird my euro headlights are Bosch - they have plastic frames. I had one frame break in an accident and AC Nico was nice enough to send me a replacement frame. It was Hella and was plastic as well.
