    Shadowlined my Ellips

I scuffed and painted the dull silver rings around the ellips. I think that the black goes very well with them; much better than the silver.

sorry man it'd look better if the rings were just cleaned and polished to match the center grille piece.

The rings were in Horrible shape. I cleaned them to no avail, thus I painted them black. I'll take pics when I get them installed on Thursday hopefully. I need to find a place in Eugene that sells 9005/6 connectors (probably a NAPA or something).

          the dealer :)

you probuly could have wire wheeled them, polish with metal polish and your set.

maybe a pic with them on the car would help.

You should have painted them silver. Your headlights are going to look really small in your grills now.

it looks like you painted them with a paint brush or a roller.

I think they look better. I just did mine a few days ago and the difference is very subtle but an improvement nonetheless. . I also put a fresh coat of black on the side grills as well as painting the kidneys black. The total effect is nice (if you like the shadowline look).

I have seen people paint the trim ring black on E30's before and it looks good IMHO

Ive done this before too, The silver doesnt belong because its not shinny like the grill is. Very dull. The black looks better i think.

They were still a tad bit tacky in the picture. I put about 10 coats of paint on them. The finished product isn't as shiny as in the pictures.

Think they look ok. Hopefully what you did will hold up over time.

Mine have black rings but I dont know how different the effect is with white ellips.

I like it, I did it on my car a few years ago, I think it makes the front look a lot cleaner when they're all installed. Makes the headlights look smaller.
I need to repaint mine now though, they're getting some rock chips in them.

Here's a pic of my front with them painted. Pay no attention to the blue bulbs, they're not on there anymore...old pic...

better than chrome...integrates the grills and
