Im not tryin to win there fella, I'm askin you to show me where they are not up to par with new designed units.

I think we all want to know what the best one is. Bang for the buck, is all dependant on how much you value your $. Where as performance and output can be measured.

So, if all my research and reading etc puts me where I am with what I have, and its not the best performer as it seems to be, I want to know.

Hella and Bosch Ellipsoids with HID's. Thats the best setup for output that I have found that isnt crazy mad scientist expensive.

Sure, an h4 halogen reflector may outperform an h1 halogen projector. But does it outperform an HID projector setup?

And how are the Hella and Bosch units out of date?

OT: can u get a plastic piece chromed? i know most of our ellips are old and used, and the reflectors probably have shitty chrome b/c it wipes off when u clean it, SOO can they be sent out and re-chromed?

If it was chromed in the first place, then yes.

You guys are silly, arguing about headlights.

Im casting my vote: You can't get a clean crisp cutoff with a reflector halogen.

Maybe move your arguments to practical e30 applications ie: NO H9's or whatever.

lights to me are for safety not bling, looks or customization. every car i get receives a set of elips and hids. up here in the NW when it rains you dont get crap for light output with a sealed beam, or ANY projector with a standard halogen bulb.

My idea, drive during the day, get projectors, get HID's. For the night and remove your high beams for a better look and so that turbo can get colder air. That's my idea, i think you guys are blowing this thread up.

Headlights are headlights, if you need better head lights upgrade them, if you want to have a better looking car upgrade them IMO.

I personally tinted my lights because i didn't want to spend 300$+ for headlights which i thought worked well enough.

              It Depends

seriously it just depends what you are shooting for in your car,

if you want something like a genuine car with stock everythign and rarest of rare things then yea, you want the euro smiley, euro grill, blahblah blah.

but if you are moding for somethign else I dont htink there is much incentive to get somethign "rare" cause you can just fabricate things to make them rare if not one and only. for anything for that matter.
