Ive heard a sugestion that e39 projector lamps ie the complete headlight can be fitted to an e30?? This is to run HID's with the correct pattern as the UK will be clamping down on retrofitted kits in normal ellipsoid lamps due to the incorrect beam pattern.
Anyone got any help/ideas??

you can probably make the projector housing work with e30 ellipsoids, but you can't just use the E39 lights directly. I know some people have used E46 projectors as well.
