51 41 1 870 718 = Clips (not sure how many are needed, count the holes in the trunk?)

yup its been done. If you are going to do it use one of the extra spaces to incorp a on/off switch.

Nice mtech lid liner btw... Saw one on ebay.de last week but the guy wouldnt ship.

Spot on; I ordered 10 clips, I can't remember if I used them all or I needed more. The trim was ~$67 from BMA in 2006, plus shipping.

And you know they were originally meant to have two lights, because the trunk lid liner already has the cut out for the second light:
