    Lamin-x ?tion (pics inside)

so i'm thinking about ordering up some Lamin-x film for my e30, i have a black e30 sedan and i'm in the process of repainting my front end. so why not clean it up a little nad add some character?

okay whats the difference between the lamin-x tinted vs. smoked?

i think i'm going to go smoked/tinted on the headlights and yellow for the fogs, any opinions either way? i don't want the headlights super dark, so whicever of the two is lighter (tinted or smoked)

do whatever to the high beams. but unless youre running a hid setup for lows i wouldnt sacrifice light output for looks.

For the record its an 88, direct swap for plastic bumpers..... not so much with the euros ;)

I'm partial to the smoked look, however i think it looks best when a set of genuine smoked headlights are used. That being said, i say go for the smoked not the tinted, might also want to paint a spare kidney grille so you can switch back and forth and see which you think complements the front end best with the smoked lights.

thanks guys!! so the lamin-x really kills light output that bad??!! wow, i was thinking of either one of these:

              leave the lows as is/yellow high's/yellow fog's

              -or-

              smoked/tinted lows/high's, and yellow fogs

              hmmmmmmm

and as far as bumpers go i have plastics sitting in my garage waiting to get installed!!

you know what, i think i'll get some HID's while i'm at it, any suggestions on that??

i was checking out apexcone/ddm's site and for $95 that's not too bad.

now which bulb should i order h1?? or the 9006??

i'm thinking 4500k but not sure how all that works, any help is appreciated!!

should i opt for the accessory harness too?

id look up seller name "Habbie" on bimmerforums. he has a good deal going for ProLumens 55watt hid kits. he even has a deal going with a set of the same prolumens plus a cheap 35 watt (ddm, apexcone) for use in fog lights.

you can run the cheapo 95 dollar kits, but the better kit is the prolumens.

if you have stock us elips you need 9006 bulbs, you do not need the harness though as the stock harness will plug into the hid ballast.

run the laminx yellow on the fogs. there is write ups on here on how to smoke the low beams with out the use of laminx. im more of a hella smoked kit kind of guy but if your on a budget, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Looks like you have US ellips, so get the 9006 bulbs. 5000K is perfect white, I have them in my '88 too and i LOVE them. I also have smoke lamin-x on my vert (H1/H4 setup) and they are bright enough to easily punch through the tint. HIDs would be even better. Don't worry about the harness, you dont need it for these cars.

I have smoked Lamin-X and it does take away some output. Since I have the 55w Apexcone HID's it's not too big of a deal.
