    HELLA vs. BOSCH

So, I was wondering what the difference was between Hella Smiley Ellipsoids and Bosch Smiley Ellipsoids...
Is one better quality than the other?
What are they made with that could be different?
Is it just a matter of opinion?
or does one project light better?
    Thanks alot,

AFAIK, Bosch never made smileys. Other than that, there isn't much difference between Hella's Euro ellipsoids and Bosch's.

supposedly the reflector in a bosch light is made of metal. I know that the reflector in a hella light is made of plastic.

By now, most lights have crappy old reflectors anyways, and it is best to buy new ones from the dealer. You can only buy hella reflectors new. Bosch are discontinued.

Bosch did make euro ellipsoids. I do know, though, that Bosch reflectors won't work in Hella euro ellipsoids, and Hella reflectors won't work in Bosch euro ellipsoids.

i have non-smiley bosch euro ellipsoids, the ones with the olive green metal housing, and the reflector inside is plastic.

I have had both. I like the way the Hella's disperse the light.

By euro ellipsoids I was referring to smileys. Sam wins and you're the coolest guy ever.

Okay it doesn't matter...this still isn't helping me choose which smiley ellipsoid to get...

I've heard Bosch is slightly better, there are different materials, I don't think it's the reflector, I think it's the actual housing, but Hella is easier to find, and comes smoked.

There is only one smiley ellipsoid: Hella. Bosch only made Euro ellipsoids without the smiley, and Hella made them both ways.

NOT ALL EURO ELLIPSOIDS ARE SMILEYS!

AFAIK, Hella also made all of the US ellipsoid lights.
