Looking for details on 86 325es fog lights

I have an 85 325e with an 86 es bumper. I have a few questions. First off is this the same bumper as the 325is?

Second, I want to install the OEM or lights VERY close to the dimension of OEM for this bumper. The opening on the bumper is 8" x 3.5 - 3.75" and there are few aftermarket units that will fill that opening.

I am also curious about the mounting brackets used in the OEM application of this? If anybody can find me details that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

    My bumper:

That is an 'is' spoiler, the 'es' didn't have the two holes in th middle.
Is that a picture of your car or one similar?
Just buy a used set in the for sale forum, or find them at the junkyard.

Wow! You're absolutely right... The above bumper is the exact same as mine (not my car) that has the two slits in the middle.

The below was the only reference I had to go on and as you see, there is a difference. Thanks for the info! Truly a car guy who keeps his eyes open.

Thems be Hella fog lights, available brand spankin new on Pelican Parts (http://www.pelicanparts.com/bmw/cata...pg5.htm#item27 #63-12-1-468-173-M9)

But do you have $360 spare cash lying around? Or just get some used for a lot cheaper.

Anyhow, in each corner of the square hole for the fog, there will be a tab with a hole in it. The fog light comes with three (not four, I don't know why) long pegs with clips on the back that will hold them onto the tabs.

If you buy the fogs new, you'll have everything you need. If you get them used, make sure you get the little pegs and the tri star shaped clips (I think they're stuck to the fog light assembly regardless).

Awesome info. I found a seller who has a great set with good hardware.

Thanks for all the advice. I've since learned the "IS" has the two extra outlets at the bottom for the oil cooler, whereas the "ES" did not have that.

Thanks for all the great info! Your car looks great in that picture! Where is BC is that?

              Dear sweet Victoria.

Also, hope you don't have my problem (http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=127352). Fogs still haven't gone in yet.

Old post, but wanted to post info just in case someone searches and finds this post. I recently picked up a pair of hell a fogs for an early is/es and the seller had fogs for e30s and early six series - same fog, but different connectors so make sure you buy fogs with the same style connector as those on your car!
