Really! Are they D2R bulbs with blocking plates on the bulb or D2s?

D2S bulbs in a reflector housing means unlimimted glare just about everywhere. Other drivers must hate you.

Sorry, haven't got around to getting pictures, been extremely busy.

Both the ballasts for the headlights and the foglights (4 total) are in my engine ompartment

              What are blocking plates?

On the ellips, does it really matter which ones to use?

On the ellips use the D2S because the lenses have the blocking plates built in.

The problem with H4 and H3 like fogs is they dont have anything to keep light from going above the horizon so if you put in the most common D2S you end up sending an extremely excessive amount of light up into peoples eyes.

D2R basically have thier own blockers to control where light can go.

The factory blockers are still in place so it's not too bad. No need for high beams anymore though.

would there be any downside to getting the D2R with blockers on the ellips?

You should note that the later style e30 fogs are ellipsoid projectors just like the euro and US ellips low beams and have a cutoff for focused light output. (meaning no blinding light above the horizon.)

I ran his kit also. Now its in the M3. The rebasing of the bulbs concerned me but I must admit they survived the wreck while the halogens died.
