In my 1984 325e the "Engine Oil" light is on even though the oil is perfectly fine (checked it few hours ago). The light has been on for a few weeks now and I don't know the sensor that it might have?

Mine works great, and if it had not I might be replacing my motor right now.
My car was leaking a quart every 50 miles or so from bad pan gasket.
What this means is go fix that shit!

I think you can squeeze it out of there without too much trouble. Just remember that the i & eta engines have a different connector on the end of the harness.Comment

I'm also going to be replacing this soon. Since the sensor sits atop the oil pan I'm assuming I don't have to drain the oil or anything before trying to take it off and replacing it? I just don't want to have it squirt oil all over me when I loosen it to take it out :)Comment
