Help me pick out a new high end headunit for my e30.

The 8250 only has two sets because it is generally assumed that anybody who would pay retail for that deck (a grand or so) would be using the 'front' RCAs straight into an electronic crossover and/or EQ and the splitting it to mids and highs from there.

Nope, it doesn't. Don't need it, don't want it.

Unless your passives are really well built i'm certain it will sound better with the deck processing the crossover.

The crossovers within my JL amps are more then adequate.

Also no MP3 feature, these new decks all have MP3, could you imagine getting rid of most your cds in your car. You might think that the MP3 is poor quality, well thats only if it's poorly ripped and burned, otherwise it's pretty hard to tell

I like my CD's thank you very much. I don't want MP3 CD readability on any deck I buy. MP3's sound like crap. I have over 2500 320KBIT MP3's on my computer. I'm sorry if you are unable to hear the difference between a MP3 and the original source material.

Basically i'm say the CD 700 is an awesome deck but just doesn't have enough features, just not enough features for you to tune.

I don't see how that is a downside? People today are caught up with 500 useless functions they don't even know how to use but just must have. The true beauty of the Nak CD700 is in its simplicity.

Thats certainly a route I could go. I'm sure Luke can hook me up with a nice AudioControl unit.

Jordan, just watch out with one thing...

A friend of mine is a car audio installer, and he was telling me the other day (when I mentioned a Nakamichi deck) that he had one, but that it crapped out. When he sent it to the factory for repair, they denied him warranty coverage because he was using non-pressed cds.

So basically, I hope you like buying CDs, cuz that's all your gonna be playing in that thing. Apparently they don't like burnt cds very much.

that can happen to any head unit if you feed it cheap media. little flakes coming off the cd can really screw things up. i had my eclipse warrantied once because of this.

Yeah, but what I'm saying is that they refuse to service units damaged in this fashion. I believe they even quoted their warranty and everything.

The true beauty of the Nak CD700 is in its simplicity.

Heehee, i like the quote, very true. :) The Nak does look pretty awesome. But I still can't live without processing, like timealignment (get rid of kickpanels for life), even though our cars dont need much EQing. An AudioControl unit would be a nice upgrade to that Nak.

Well if he buys a used Nack CD700 it's not like they're going to service it anyhow. Besides, they've gone out of business... again...


Jordan, the RFX-8250 and an Audio Control 3XS would kick some ass! It'd be a much better crossover for than the ones in the JL and it'd solve your problem of having one set of preamp outs for the front. The 3XS has 2-pairs input and 3-pairs output... perfect to go with the 8250.

haha, this reminds me of when SUPER HUMAN audio engineers come in to our HD rooms and complain that our 1k tone isnt perfect, so i pretend to change it, and they go, good, now its perfect. Those ears are sooo good they can pick up tones that arent even there! perfect!

The CD-400 is too cheap looking. Also I've read ALOT about it skipping too easy.

It does fit right in with the e30 pretty well tho, but it has a internal amp.

I've read about the cd-700 skipping just as easily.
