Help me pick out a new high end headunit for my e30.
Jordan are you kidding?
The Rockford RFX-8250 is an awesome deck flat out.
It not having an internal amp and automatically revising the cd several times before it plays makes it an excellent deck for sq. Don't be to quick to eliminate it in your search. 8)
btw: It also has aux in for those with ipods.

You could always have the aluminum faceplate anodized black if the guy shoots down your offer on the CD-700. 8)
Check out the older lines of Eclipse decks. Mine has no internal power and it has 8v preouts, non-fading for the subs with sub volume control of course. The sound quality is superb on it.

It has a single 20bit DAC and only 2 preouts. I NEED 3 total. These specs are also a bit lower then ideal.
# CD Signal-to-Noise Ratio: >90 dB
# Amp Total Harmonic Distortion: <0.5%

pick up the rockford, and refinish the faceplate black and have it silkscreened, and run it to an outboard processor if you are that into sound quality...
or go carrozerria and lightpipe
btw that rockford has been in alot of world champion sound quality cars over the years and you install is nothing even close to those.
you really need to do some research if you think that the speakers/amps/install in your car/almost any mainstream or indy current cd will benefit from a 24-bit dac.
rest of it makes sense but really look into the real-world difference between 1-bit dacs and 24-bit dacs and what the human ear is capable of hearing in those differences.
not saying your not an audiofile but there is more to it than a spec sheet. (and yes i am most definatley an audiofile, but i also have formal training in sound engineering and audio mastering)

It does not meet my minimum requirements. less then 3 preouts is NOT acceptable. The rest of that post is just crap. Don't try to tell me what I can and cannot hear.

probably among the top 3 best head units on the market.. radio wont work in the US but since you dont listen to the radio what does that matter... and you can run lightpipe to the processor/amps for no wire loss later on if you choose to do so
there is sorta a US equivelent but they alll have brushed alu. face plates
All the decks that i would suggest you have aready turned down. For me yes, specs are important, but the CD700 probably doesn't have PEQ and timealignment and crossovers. Unless your passives are really well built i'm certain it will sound better with the deck processing the crossover. Also no MP3 feature, these new decks all have MP3, could you imagine getting rid of most your cds in your car. You might think that the MP3 is poor quality, well thats only if it's poorly ripped and burned, otherwise it's pretty hard to tell off of the crap music we listen too these days. I've never heard a 2 24bit DAC, but i'm just curious if you could even distingish the difference. I know with an EQ your car will sound much cleaner "if tuned right", hope you have the ear for it. You could even EQ the resonance out if you have any. I think the eclipse is not to bad looking, i has blue and red lights, and it's got 8volt preout giving you much cleaner signal, and could you beat a 10band peq, theres not even one on the market yet. :D Also with the balance line driver you coudl get 16volts, might be over kill but just a though that you have that option. Basically i'm say the CD 700 is an awesome deck but just doesn't have enough features, just not enough features for you to tune. A well tuned car coudl make a world of a difference.
