When you say "mounted the PPi's grill ring to the surface of the kick panel", do you mean "used as a template" or do you actually use/mount the PPI grill ring?

I plan on using this install method for my PPI's mids.

Yes, I mounted the ring to the face of the panel only as a template. This provided a surface for the router bearing guide to trace, thereby cutting the correct size hole and keeping it perfectly round. After routing I removed the ring and had screw holes that would line up for the grill cover.

I had to rotate the driver in the kick panel a few degrees to uncover the factory holes that need to be used to mount the grill cover. To mount the driver you will have to mark and drill 4 small holes(again the ring comes in handy for this) and use the little clips provided to fasten them. I'd suggest using a small piece of tape to hold 'em in place.

I also used some slightly wider gasket tape I had. The stuff in the box was all dried out.

              Here's a few pics

It's a close fit with the glovebox but it definitely clears
Part # for the grill is: 65131370803
I used the long screws included with the ppi's to mount the grill.

Those setups look nice. I plan on doing the same when I start my audio build.
