Old school amps or current stuff ?

I have a unique opportunity to either purchase old school a/d/s or PPI amps to run my system, not a big bass slammin' setup but clean.

For the money, ARC audio and the JL HD 4/5 channel class D amps seem like pretty "small" but punchy and clean amps.

What would you do if you were on a budget, but had access to dealer prices on the above mentioned amps?

Call me lame or old but I love those old school ppi amps, I got buddies with the 20 and 30inch 4-8 chnl amps and those things thump hard and are unbreakable.

those ARC SE's are SERIOUS bank! I'm torn b/w a ppi 4480, a/d/s ph15, or a modern ARC or JLHD class-d full range 5 ch amp. My decision will be based mainly on SQ and a ltd holiday budget.

Yeah, didja notice I run Exile amps in my system?

JL, other than the "/" series are crap. 500/5, rock on.

Small and great sound are NEVER in the same product.

If you can find an old "pewter" PH15, rock that, especially if you can do an Audiocontrol Three.1.

The black ones (PH15s) are nowhere near as good IMO.

Any ADS PH/PQ/PS ".2" amp was the last of the good stuff IMO...

Want flawless sound and era-correct? Find a Nakamichi PA300II and a PA350II. Best amps to ever leave Ja-pan, and amazing performers.

maybe check the PA301 and PA304 as well...might be easier to find and certainly are "prettier"...
