what do you think of those new tiny sized Arc Audio amps?

They get great reviews, but I have not heard them. AFAIK, hecho in china and they are NOT designed by Bob Zeff. The big tipoff is that they are "Designed in house", meaning that they aren't built here...

Back on topic: Anyone here know who Zed Audio is? They built TONS of serious powerhouses way back in the day. They built the beautiful old HiFonics stuff, and rumour has it that they also OEd many of the famous American amps.

Anyway, they are back, doing a few car amps. They look ugly as fuck IMO, but I would be willing to bet they kick ass. Priced right over Alpine kind of chinese crap, these seem to be like the good old stuff...dunno.

I heard them the other day, pushing a nice 5 channel system and 8" sub, sounded very controlled from low volume up to "whoa" volumes.

I would say old school. I do have a few butler tube amps that are amazing. But it still old school tech.

I've got a Audio Control 3.1 (as mentioned above) sitting at home if you're interested... if you have an amp that can take an input of 12v or higher, it is the best thing I've ever seen in audio,... if you don't you will blow the amp quickly... ask me how I know (Kicker's 5v input didn't cut it long)

The only hesitation I'd offer on older equipment, is that many shops will no longer fix them. I sent away a mid/late 90s amp to be repaired only to have it sent back untouched, with a note saying they couldn't guarantee fixed amp, so they won't work on it... just consider that... though, older amps may never die, so who knows.
