Vent: Is mutilated speaker selling some form of newbie initiation?

So far I am 0 for 2 in trying to get a pair of e30 door tweeters.

Both times, from different sellers, what arrived was missing mounting points and clips (which I am sympathetic to, it is 20+ yr. old plastic after all), but most disturbing was that both times the tweeters themselves had had the leads ripped from the speaker - rendering them useless. Not "hard to solder a lead on", but "holy cow there is nothing metal there."

    Both sellers refunded.

So, I am just wondering, is the trashed door tweeters a right of passage for newbies? How many do I have to buy before I am considered initiated? Do I indicate that status in my sig?

If anyone needs two right hand door tweeters, one with a retaining clip, one without, PM me for pics and prices. They won't be mint, but they will be fully disclosed.

replace the tweeters with aftermarket and use double sided tape to secure the pod. Problem solved.

Seriously though, that does suck. I don't know how people can sell stuff like that without disclosing damage.

Thanks, reelizmpro. It isn't the end of the world, but I am disappointed that I could get rooked twice in the space of a week.

How to you remove the old tweet without destroying the housing? They look to be glued in real good with abs cement.

Pry around the edge of the tweeter with a flat blade screwdriver.

slowly and carefully working your way around until things free up. I have dealt with similar things that needed to be removed. If you are hasty and impatient, you will damage them.
