mine has plastic covering where the tweeters would be, i believe it was an option, my question is if i by the tweeter pods, can i put in my own , also will i need to run my own wiring or are the wires there just plug and play tyia guys

Yes you can put in your own but you have to become a dremel masta to fit them in correctly.

Sorta plug and play, do you have a manual of the wiring? if not just go to your local auto parts store or look for it on real OEM, it should clear things up for ya. ;)

The old tweets pop out, most all E30s are prewired for the tweets.

It really isn't a big deal at all.

I probably had some tweeters with super glue on them then 'cause in order for mine to pop out, I had to shave the surrounding part of the plastic and then I replaced them with some 800wts tweets.

Anyways, Luke is right it's not a big deal, just look for the connectors and you won't go wrong.

It's plug and play, but you must obviously have premium mids that have the crossover on them for the tweeter wires to connect to.

No, they are stuck on pretty good. If you grab a medium screwdriver and stick it between the tweeter and the housing, you can twist it in a few spots, the tweet will break free.

I had trouble with this method. Where does the tip of the screwdriver go, in between the plastic of the housing and the plastic of the speaker, or in between the plastic and the magnet? I got lots of cracking sounds and teasing, but it never popped free.

I ended up just grabbing the magnet with the slip-joint pliers from the toolkit and popped it out, separating the magnet and diaphram from the plastic face. Broke the speaker in half, basically.

If you put the screwdriver between the housing and the magnet, you'll just remove the magnet... You have to pry deeper between the housing and the tweeter itself.
