So, you splice this in to the lock circuit manually, or does it somehow "plug" in?

This is awesome. Thanks for posting this up.

Now the only thing that I need to do is figure out how the PO intentionally wrecked my central locking.

that would be great IF you have the remote start one.

I need to figure out who the actual manufacturer is so I can buy these direct.

Just be careful with remote start and BMW 5 speed transmissions...

a guy on Mye28 a few years ago installed it in his E28 mit 5 Speed and loved it,
until he came home from work and parked his car out in front of the house along the curb, he then came in and sat down at the computer and immediatley heard a loud crash...
he went back outside and came to find out that we he sat down,
he had his keys in his front pocket and by sitting it accidentally hit the button that starts the car. With BMW's not having to have the clutch push in to start the car, it started in gear and went for a very short but very damaging car ride down the street and into the neighbors car...

I'm not sure they can advertise the keys on Ebay with the Roundel in them or not. The new keys are the exact same size and shape as the E46 keys. all functions are in the same positions. The only thing that is any different is that the United Security keys have a small blue LED in the base that lights up when each button is pressed.

The older style keys United Security offered that held the key blade in the head with a small screw were real POS. Now that the new keys have been introduced with the head and the blade made all together its a whole different story. All I can say is I am normally a very picky person when it comes to detail and with the new style keys I am very impressed.

All I am waiting for now is BMW to get the new key in that I ordered for my car so I can get the United keys cut to a new unworn key profile.
I have that other style and have had no problems. I think they look cooler, are more practical and they're fun.

Having had remote start in ALL of my cars, most of which are manual transmissions, I can tell you all kinds of stuff about that...including WHY you never ever put your keys in your pockets and WHY you don't ever start your car unless you can see it, so you can shut it off.

The old style UAS key was POS that got destroyed through normal use, but UAS has a lifetime warranty so they sent me a new one. The new style is a little bulkier, but much more stout.

As you can see, the new style key is exactly like my wife's X3 key. I wish I new that they secretly offered a roundel option.

Call UAS and talk to them about the roundel. When I got mine they both came with the emblems on the keys and had a buisness card for a company that makes copys of the emblems for there keys in case I needed a replacemnt

Is there a way to like retrofit a trunk popping setup into E30's? It would be sweet if the trunk button on those keys actually opened the trunk.
