Finally! My Elemental Designs 6.5 subs installed in rear deck

Built a custom enclosure and amp rack, cut a couple of holes in the rear deck metal, wrapped everything in black vinyl, installed (2) Elemental Designs E3.6 subs and a Lanzar 600watt amp, and now I've got the perfect amount of bass I was looking for. These little guys sound good and were only $40 each. My camera sucks but it came out pretty good for not being an upholsterer.

nice choice on the ed 3.6 mini subs. I am installing four of these in my vert. Can't be beat for $40 each.

IIRC the rear will take some major modification. Sheet metal modification.

What airspace did you build the boxes to?

Can you give some thoughts to the sound a bit? Things like:
          - Do they offer bass fill or are they strong enough to be felt like a 10" or 12" sub
          - How do they do throughout the range of bass notes (curious if they play lows at all)
          - Did you run them free air before building the boxes?

Seeing how the woofer is sitting on top of the panel, how does the box under the rear deck attach to the box on top?

What have you done for an airseal?

They dont hit like a 10 or 12 or really even a good 8. Don't get me wrong they sound great but you can't hear the bass outside of the car. I haven't free air'd them yet but I'm going to rebuild a rear deck panel to incorporate these 2 and see how it sounds free air. For this box though I cut out a square area at each corner of the rear deck but left the sheet metal in the center. From there you can see I have a piece of MDF laying over the width of the rear deck and a box at each end coming down into the trunk. So each one is in its own sealed enclosure. Of course the trunk springs came out so I had to weld brackets to my hinges and trunk floor to hold convertible trunk shocks.

This is a cool idea, but if you could flush mount the subs and wrap it all in one piece, it would be way better. You should also wrap it in the OEM carpet if you can get some, and do the bottom of the boxes too.
