Little rod going from lock cylinder to latch mechanism (top looks like a little shepherd's crook). It unlocks the latch when turning the key but will just fall out of the hole if the lock pull or actuator are used. I'm thinking that I'm either missing a clip or the rod is broken. I'll check the passenger's side, but I figured that it was different due to the emergency-unlock feature.

back to the original post, i thought e30s only had electric double lock on passenger door(s) and trunk? the drivers door is a manual double lock only, so it wouldnt be possible to double lock it with an alarm.
