In my experience both the E30 and E28 'premium' system with their amps are crap. When you hook up an aftermarket radio it almost immediately starts clipping. Bypassing it ASAP is the best thing you can do IMO.Comment

Believe it or not, 99% of the "pros" out there get it wrong...and have the exact same complaint you do.
The issue is that the input stage is being overloaded by about 300%.
If you leave the decks negative speaker disconnected and put chassis ground on the input grounds, it generally works great.
oh yeah, and also recognize that BMW uses black stripe for rear positive...
Seriously, you should hear one done right with all stock stuff. better than 90% of the aftermarket speakers out there.Comment

where does the wire that goes further down the harness for the tweeters go? i found some premium fronts at the junk yard to replace the shitty pioneers the PO installed, and i plugged the tweeters into them and there's no sound :(

It goes a few inches past the other terminal. Look for a small blue plug.Comment

I am no 'pro' but the amp just seems like a turd. Trying to work with it seems like a waste. With that said I have never listened to one 'done right' so I am biased.Comment

On most all aftermarket decks there is a standardized color code...but once again I am having to ask what you have...seeems if you are asking technical questions you should supply ALL the info you can.
Soooo...what deck do you have?Comment
