Anyone done a small (6" or 8") sub set up?

Not much luck searching on here, and these cars are unique enough in sound that other forum info feels only so-so.

If you only want to fill out music but don't care about adding serious bass - why not just add 1 or 2 small subs? Smaller, lighter, cheaper, less electrical demand, etc. (My car HATES my big sub amp even after upgrading from the 80A alt to a 110A alt.)

Came across this the other day and it inspired this thinking:

Funny thing is that guys on that forum LOVE these little guys, but when I called up eD they tried pushing larger (probably just trying to sell more $$).

Yes, a 10" or 12" woofer will provide more/better/whatever bass. But this is thinking through other non-typical potentials.

        Did you order that sub?

If you want light and small, grab an E46 sub!

No I've been holding off until I get the new deck installed so I can re-evaluate (going to move the front speakers into the door panels too). At only $40 I came real close to just getting it just to see how it works.

5" morel subs will fit in your kick panels. I have a pair down there on my black car. I also had some door pods made for my mids and highs, but the subs fit in the kicks, the hollow area above and behind is actually quite large with an effective small port hole. May not be exactly to spec, but my 5"s give an nice bass fill between my mids and 10" sub in the rear

I head one of those ED 6" subs in a ported .8 cubic foot box. Impressive to say the least.

                Good to know!

Thinking I'll try one out. If it doesn't fit the bill... whatever, only out $40 + whatever to build the box. My sub amp is about 4x's too much power so I'll have to figure something out to power it. I'll bet Curt has one lying around to test it.

Probably would run it in a sealed box through the ski pass.

                  With what seat?

Sealed, that thing is gonna need a bazillion watts.

NFC on tuning, I didn't build it, but it was straight out of the ED site.

It was sitting on the back seat of a 'vert with a hard top.

I can't think it would do much of anything at all trying to shove bass through that thick leather, the stuff is so gnarly.

But OK, since we are gonna talk about silly shit, you guys should see the pair of 6X9s I got from O'reilleys...$24.95, cast aluminum baskets, kevlar cone with a nitrile rubber surround...BURLY little bastards, made HUGE bass in the ass end of a '70 Dodge Dart I did last week.

I bet a pair of those woofers in a simple panel would rock in an E30. If you are gonna go check them out, look for "VR3" brand...on a 2 ohm stable little monoblock, they would be awesome.

Make sure it is those, the other VR3 are absolute crap.

I put 2 e3.6's in the rear deck. I have a picture in here somewhere. They're great. You could also put them in the custom door pods or kick panels I make. I mean I'm just saying they're kick ass door pods and kick panels.
