For Luke
Not the most elegant solution, but it really doesn't look bad, and completely (100%) eliminated the vinyl "flap." Also allows all bass into the cabin which is what this box was designed for anyway. I was terribly disappointed with the seatback in unmodified.

Oh well, not for everyone, I'm sure there will be those who think it looks terrible. Wife digs it, and she is very picky about these things. Get a great massage sitting in back now too. :)"A good memory for quotes combined with a poor memory for attribution can lead to a false sense of originality."

Oh yeah, that doesn't look half bad, does it?
I wonder how it would be to cut a small panel to fit behind the foam, something you could shove the ports through to secure them so they looked "tighter" in the seat?
Imma go grab a USPS shipping box, see if I can sell some 4" ports cheap enough to help anyone out who wants to do this. I have an assload of them, but if shipping is $10, it really isn't worth it.Comment

It really doesn't. Would look a lot better on a black seat. And, I think, maybe one more port on top.
Are those secured from the back? I agree they could be tucked in a little more, but not much.
I have an armrest back seat, but it is tan leather and the rest of the interior is black. I could just port one of my vinyl seats and be done.
Where do you get the ports?Comment

I would not even bother. I just swapped out the wifes "cut foam" to a non-ripped stock seat.
Seriously, about 10% difference between cut and not, and maybe a 5% difference between seat in or out with the seat I cut before I even started her install.
I wish it was not such a pain in the ass to take photos. I really should have at least 3 or 4 pics of the damn seat.Comment

Weird, they are flush with the seat... pushed in as far as they can go without being pushed through the seat. They aren't secured by anything but friction. Just put some tape over the seat and trace around the port. Then cut just inside the lines so that the port sits tight in there. It really doesn't. Would look a lot better on a black seat. I get the ports from a local audio wholesaler who sells to installers. Cost me $3 per port."A good memory for quotes combined with a poor memory for attribution can lead to a false sense of originality."

So weird that the only store in this region that sells parts wants $15 each port (!) for that same plastic crap! Parts Express is like $2.05 or whatever, $3 is great...but $15? Weird how the whole Seattle area has less speaker building accessories than LA or San Diego, or even Portland.Comment
