Do these Alpine's just drop in and hook up?
Or do you have to run new wiring?Leave a comment:

sweet. I'm also looking to just freshen up the sound nothing too fancy or heavy just trying to replace the stock speakers.
You think these would go along ok without needing an amp? (I'm looking to get a pioneer or alpine headunit along with fresh speakers all around)Leave a comment:

Just to update my thread...

Just installed these 5.25" in the rear of my vert. They barely fit with the large magnet size. I read the stock speaker is about 2.25" deep, the Alpines I used were about 2" deep but with a much larger magnet. I went with these Alpine's mainly because they were cheap $30 shipped on ebay and matched my headunit. As you might imagine, they sound much better than the stock rear speakers. They really fill the sound in back there. Still debating if I should get a small in cabin subwoofer.Leave a comment:

Verts are 5.25 also.
The rears are a bitch. Depth is an issue, as is magnet diameter, but far more important is tweeter protrusion. I made my own coax speakers out of a set of premium sounds.Leave a comment:

Stock speakers in a convertible are 4.25" right? and 5.25" fit perfectly, at least they do in my M3. Just want to make sure the verts are the same. I need to get some speakers but don't want to spend too much...maybe $50 a pair. I'm thinking Polk Audio, Rockford Fosgate, Infinity, Boston Acoustics. Been a while since I bought speakers. Thanks.Tags: None
