So how is the imagining in this location? Im assuming the speakers are now pointing more at the thighs or legs then before when the speaker would be in the kicks. What kind of depth are you looking at for the pod? It would be sweet to have like 8's in the doors and then have the midrange and tweeter being aimed on axis in the kicks. I might be pm'ing you about this in the near future ;D

Personally, I say the gain in acoustical balance (SO much better midbass) is worth the loss of imaging. You could always do soft dome midranges on the top of the dash...

No way...you need something with a Qts over.5, and better if over .7

Didn't even look at the specs lol. Just got excited thinking of 8's in the doors.

Exactly why I am building a new dash. Gonna do either a pair of 7" Dynaudio or some of the chinese fakes in full Aperiodic boxes and full transmission lines behind a bad ass 3" driver, fully "quad-amped", meaning a true 4 way active system...but this thread is about door pods, right?

All you late model guys know that you can fit quite a big 6.5" with no spacers or nothing, right?

And you, Mr OP, got a job as an installer yet? You seem to be coming along nicely in your levels of finish...now on to alarm functions and electricals! Do your MECP testing yet?

              Keep it up, bubba.

                Luke

Nice! Where do you plan having the speakers located? Kind of how it was like when I saw it at the picnic in 08'?

When saying you can fit the 6.5" no problem is that for in the door cards or in the kicks?

Yeah sorry OP, to stay on topic, you do have great looking pair of pods ;)

Yeah, kinda like that. Those are the prototypes, basically. I am going to do a full MDF enclosure on each side of the dash for midbass, and they will be a structural part of the dash. The rest will be built of "floral foam", fiberglass and bondo, then wrapped in either leather or vinyl.

                  [/threadjack]

Yes, most 6.5's will fit in the doors of a late model.
