    CD43 Skips Like Crazy?

My CD43 skips like a little bitch when I hit even small-ish bumps. Has anyone else had this problem? Dear lord, tell me this is not normal for the CD43 lol.

It did hit the ground twice pretty hard due to being dropped prior to installation...I would think that it would either not work at all or be fine with abuse like that. Any help?

I just recently installed one too... Mine is skipping like crazy also. :( I'm guessing it has to do with the rigidity of the dash. I put one in my E36 as well, and it never skips. Let me know if you find a way to dampen it a bit.

Hmm, well this sucks lol. I read about the CD43 a lot and I never saw mention of skipping in an E30! I cannot imagine that it is any more rigidly mounted in the E30 dash than any other car really.

I am going to pull it in the next couple of weeks & inspect the optics & motor suspension assembly.

How about others with CD43's...do the rest of you get perfect, skipless operation?

Hate to resurrect this thread but wondering if anyone found a fix? I will add a sponge dampner to the rear bracket .

The fix is to get rid of the CD43, sadly. Or stop using CDs and get a GROM Aux input box. Sadly, the CD43 looks fantastic in the E30, but it's sort of a rubbish head unit in a lot of functional aspects.

Fixed the issue today by using BMW OEM dampener that is installed on the rear support bracket. No more skipping.

Where did you find this damper? RealOEM shows it as ENDED and all the links on Google from the usual suspects show it as NLA. Also, my car (which had a cheap and awful Alpine deck installed) had no sign of a rear support bracket...what does the bracket attach to?

I found it from a local junk yard. Its just a foam that you can get from any office supply/hardware store. The foam is multilayer - hard to soft. The bracket attaches to two rectangle slots in the rear. Use a flashlight to find it. You can't miss it.
