Are these alpine speakers good?

I have a stock Premium BMW system in mine. All original. The tweeters help a heck of a lot. I would recommend finding a complete premium system to an Alpine, and then just get yoursef a decent head. Then you really wouldn't need a sub.
I got a Kenwood head. Some will argue that they are not long lasting, but I never take mine past 25. (goes to 35).

I cannot imagine owning and driving a car without a good system.
The real goal of a subwoofer is to take the stress of making bass off of the "sattelite" speakers, meaning the mids and highs. Electronic and passive crossovers and multiple amplifiers are a necessity too, but not an assload of power, but it needs to be adjustable.
The cost of high performance audio these days means almost anyone can have great sound. I would never consider packing my trunk full either, I have a life that often requires trunk space, so no giant boxes for me, thanks.
So, about those speakers...read much of what I have to say about Alpine and you will see I think it some of the most overpriced, poor performing but really pretty stuff on the market. I would never recommend anything below Type X stuff from them, and it can be outperformed at 1/3 the cost!
IF you are not gonna do a sub, no how, no way, find a really nice condition set of the stock Premium sound speakers. They are absolutely the BEST choice IF no subwoofer is gonna be involved. They also sound shockingly good amplified, crossed over and properly balanced, I have done them several times and am always amazed at how the things sound.
If you are for sure GONNA have a sub, it is easier and often cheaper to get a respectable set of aftermarket component speakers. Installing them can be a hassle, as the stock kickpanel when properly installed does not allow room for most mids to move well. The stock cone is quite recessed, so there is plenty of room.
It is easy enough to space them out, but most guys don't really notice this issue.
So: good cheap components? We have seen some amazing deals on speakers, like the famous PPI speaker deal. They sold like 400 sets at like $75 a set. Dealer COST was over $150, retail was well over $350...bad ass little speakers, let me tell you!
The best deal I know of right now is the Powerbass S5C:http://www.teptronics.com/s5c.html
So, good luck getting the kind of sound you wanna hear.
These are tough cars to make sound good.

I have all Alpine Electrinics in my coupe. HU, SPR-series speakers (13s front and 13c rear). I also have Alpine 4 channel and mono amps. I am in the process now of trying out their shallow mount sub (SWR-T10).They have worked great for me. I prefer Alpine electronics in my car like, just like I prefer the E30 as my choice in an automobile. Sure we could drive a cheaper Honda and spend less on maintenance and gas or drive a Benzo, or Lex under factory warranty. But my first choice is Bmw E30 and my choice in car audio is Alpine. So if you get a good vibe from Alpine, then go for it. However, rest assured that if Alpine stumbles, I have a list of good brand names that I will try out.

I bought a Alpine CDA-150 for $80 on ebay. It has some a few blue buttons and the display is white but it has a lot of amber buttons. It also seems like it is pretty easy to use. My friend dropped his Iphone into water and the display wont work and its unfixable...so he gave it to me. Perfect for hooking up to the rear usb input.
SO do you guys have any other suggestions for components? Are those $40 ones any good? Something that would be easy to fit into the stock tweeter pods would be nice.

- Have you listened to these? Can you describe the sound?
- Will the tweeters fit into the stock sails with the stock tweets removed?
- Any components with passive crossovers, later you can just ditch the passives and bi/tri amp them right?Originally posted by Matt-Bhey does anyone know anyone who gets upset and makes electronics?
