I got my 91' 318is april of this year. the fog lights never worked. I checked the relay and fuses. I pulled the switch and used a jumper wire to see if it was the switch. the switch, when on, illuminates the green "fog light icon" in the cluster. when i jumped the wires, it did the same, but no fogs. looking at the plug the switch plugs into, i have only two wires. the actual fog light switch i have has about six different contacts coming out of it. So, my question is, how many wires does the fog light plug have going into it?
also, i recently pulled my HVAC panel off to replace bulbs and check my fan control switch. when i put everything back together, the rear defrost switch didnt illuminate anymore. I pulled it back off and cleaned the contacts, but still doesnt light up. everything else seems to work fine except for the defrost. Can the switch all of a sudden stop working? it probably has never been taken apart in its life, is that enough to make it quit working? I dont know if taking it apart was the reason it quit working though, i havent used the defrost since april. I guess it could still be working, just not illuminating....
