    Component speaker recommendations

I'm looking to upgrade my front premium speaker set (kick panel and tweeters). I currently have an older Panasonic headunit but it works just fine. I'd like to get some good components, but am unsure what to buy. I've got a budget of around $250-300. I like rock music and enjoy base, but am unwilling to install a sub, so the most base I can get would be nice.

I know I've heard that I can replace the factory tweeters, but I'm measureing them at 2" diameter, but all the aftermarket ones I'm seeing are either 3/4" or 1", which ones will fit?

    Thanks all!

1" tweeters. They have to be reglued into the little door sail. I'm assuming you have the stock rear deck speakers. You can cut those up a bit and set larger speakers into them or just have little boxes made that sit in the same location as the current deck.

I went with the high end jl components up front, 5 1/4 mid with 1" tweets and the passive crossover. You could run two small 6" subs in the rear deck without having a big box.

I have run three different setups but all required subs to sound good. Unless you want to go custom door pods you are limited by the size and geometry of the stock setup. My favorite is in my black vert, but I have significant investment into it. Custom door pods housing morel supremo tweeters and 4" hybrid ovation mids. In the kick panels I fit 5" morel elate subs, they work well as the body comes with a large volume sealed between the inner and outer body sheet metal with a little port hole. I ditched the kick panels as they would block the movement ofte subs, plus I like the feel of the sound pressure out of the port hole on my calf when I am wearing shorts. I also have a single porter 10" sub in the trunk with a box designed for it to fire horizontally into the cabin with space to get the spare tire out. I have three alpine pdx amps powering it all as it is hungry and they stack on top of each other where the rear battery trya is. Alpine 9887 hu set on three way with the signal split to the two sub amps and run fully active crossover through imprint tuning software. I could probably buy a well sorted e30 for that price though.

My white vert has the high end jl components up front all in stock location with jl coaxials in the rear and two alpine 10"s in the trunk in a sealed box. Run passive and tuned with imprint same headunit.

My red car had all kenwood stuff, 2 10" subs firing horizontally but porter through the center of the parcel shelf. All relatively cheap compared to the other setups but infinity components all around.

I know others may say different, e30's are not cheap to make sound good. But I am a bit of an audiophile.

PPI 356cs do whatever you have to get them to fit; in a sealed up door they sound phenomenal. ive heard the image dynamics CTX65CS might have a tad more bass, but i havent listened to them yet.
