    Cabby subwoofer question?

Another question which I haven't seen the answer to in other threads. What about putting 6.5 subwoofers (kicker CVT65) or 8s (pioneer TS-SW841D) in the doors? Considering that I am not looking for huge bass, and that my deck has time alignment, would this work? Sound alright? I would also use the stock locations for components and rear fill.

I have also considered putting two TS-SW841D in the rear wall infinite baffle? Any feedback would be appreciated.

well, putting subs all the way around in the doors would be kind of silly, subs are meant to handle bass. you should just leave the subs in the trunk (from what i've been reading you should probably go with a 12 and a "lukebox" from stereoinstaller1). put some good high quality (kicker is a great brand) SPEAKERS in the doors.
that is unless you are only looking for bass/lows..

ps. so this is a little off topic, but why is it a black smiley thats running from the cops?!

you can also go with a 10 if you aren't looking for as hard of a hitting sub. and i think i read that the lukebox comes in a ten as well..

If I had a proper victim/customer, I would do a pair of fiberglass boxes molded into the rear side panels to fit the mega-badass Kenwood thin 8" on each side of the back seat, then reupholster the entire panel.

If I had a 'vert, I would lose the back seat entirely.

or you could get off your ass and make a decent box for a vert. I have a very good 10 inch sub sitting in my garage waiting for a good box. or it gets stuffed back in the tiny qlogic box it used to be in... you dont want me to do that do you?

If I had a vert, I'd let you work your magic on it. I kinda want one and it would be nice to have bass.

verts are the ultimate candidate for bass. its not like you are worried about making them heavy, so load them up!

I wanted to do something like that since it's close to the battery but there just isn't a lot of room there for a sub let alone a sub/amp. Then there's the question of making it airtight and DME/harness being above it. I also wanted a functional glove box so just did this...

lol I know...its ghetto but it does get the job done and sounds great. Got the 10" DVC Alpine sub in that box for $30 and I just threw it in. I like it because it's small but hits hard and is easily removable.

I like Luke's slim sub idea but that would mean expensive subs and completely custom side panels as there's not much room behind the stock ones. I did see a setup with removable seat backs that looked promising but again...custom seat work needed. hmmm how about slim subs that can tuck away under the seats? or a custom rear center console/sub box? just a few ideas.

I will have to keep looking at the car and see if something else pops into my head. I measured under the seats, not much room there even for pioneer/kenwood/kicker slim subs.

I am still thinking free air tens (kicker c10) behind the rear seats and trying to seal up the rear area enough to avoid too much cancellation.

I am guessing, since the rear panels have next to no room behind them, that those custom panels would have to extend a fair bit into the seating area in the rear (which would prohibit my kids from accompanying me).

Yeah, there isn't a simple solution (besides a box on the backseat =]) that doesn't require some custom work. I like the idea of the removable seat back cushions but don't like the idea of cutting the sheet metal behind the rear seats.
