It might be before the carpet went on. The infinity 1060 diameter is 10 7/16" and when I put it in to test fit, I had a heck of a time getting it back out. It wasn't wedged, but it wasn't easy to get a screwdriver in to lever it out either. (ended up just turning the box on its face and letting gravity work) By contrast, the Coustic I had in there first had a good 3/16ths clearance all around.

The RE is 11" with the rubber gasket/finishing cover. Removing the cover only reduces it by a couple of 16ths. It did not seem like just removing the carpet would have done it. Maybe Luke can weigh in on that one.

I probably could have removed the carpet/trimmed the box, but it would have looked like @ss. YMMV. Besides, to me anyway, it didn't make sense to hack a custom-built hand-made $200 box to fit a $47 Chinese speaker. I ended up RMA'ing it. Sonic was very good about taking the return. Good folks.

Hmm, maybe I'll stick with the 1060...the box is the important thing per everything I've read today. Thanks for the info!

Indecision is a bitch. SSA sounds like good people to support. I'll let you know Luke, I may very well take you up on that offer, thanks.

I'm going to a 1062, so if you want a good deal on a 1060, let me know.

I might need that 1060. What do you want for it, and can I pay the shipping from here (unless you get fedex or UPS wholesale)
