Sub not working

    Sub not working

    so, im all excited. i have my sub, lukebox, amp, yadda yadda yadda.

    shits ll hooked up, not working.

    amp is getting power
    tested spare set of audio cables
    remote wire is good

    i guess maybe im hooking up the sub wrong?
    its connected to the sub channel of this amp:


    and this sub


    ive tried wiring

    +------------+-------------+

    -__________-__________-

    and

    +--------------+

    -___________-

    -____________+ on sub


    if that makes any sense.

    help?

    Have you tried checking the coil within the subwoofer & testing it. I had a JLw3 that would not work and I found that one of the terminals had a cut leading to the coil which explained why it was not thumping.

      that something you can check visually? i have the sub in my lap right now and cant see anything out of place.

        I have that very sub in my lap as well and you can see the positive and negative terminals on both sides connected to the coil

          Check the input mode switch on the amp.

          Grab a different speaker to test with

          Use all positives together, and all negatives together: both woofer "+" to the + on the amp,
          Both "-" to the amps negative, does not matter which one on the amp (single channel for bass, no bridging)

            question: its a 5 channel, but since im only having the sub right now i have it on 2 channel. is that incorrect?

              check resistance on the terminals with a voltameter as well maybe.

                yup, apparently it was supposed to be on the 5 channel.
