Having some issues with my locks, Central Locking system, etc.

So I am trying to suss out the issues with my locks before my big road trip so here's what I got going on:

    1. Driver door does not lock from the outside. Meaning I can't turn the key to lock the door. The door only locks from the inside when the door is CLOSED. Which means every time I stop and get out, or park the car at night, I walk around to the passenger side, reach in across the center console and lock the driver door from the inside.
I have been told that I need a new cylinder. But does this mean that I have to replace all the locks, including the ignition?

    2. Driver side rear door is stuck shut. The latch is stuck in the lock position. For a while I was able to get it open with a little WD-40 but eventually in gave in completely.
I have been told I need a new actuator, or the rod might just be bent. Any suggestions here?

    3. I believe the car may have a Central locking system, but I can't tell for sure. Why do I think this is so? Well, when I lock or unlock the passenger side door from the inside, I hear a noise coming from the driver door, as if both locks are trying to work at the same time, but not succeeding. Also the passenger lock is slow and heavy, as if I'm moving an electric motor without power. Does this make sense?
I know that with a CLS, you can lock the whole car from the trunk, which I currently cannot do with the car. I also believe there is a CLS because my car came with all the other added factory options (premium speakers, OBC, etc).

What I'd like to know is how to fix all these issues, but also if installing a keyless entry system would solve these issues. I've been wanting to do this for a while, and I hear there's a good $40 KEyless entry somewhere.

    Can someone enlighten me? Thanks!

Yes you have central locking, you need to take ALL the door panels off and investigate. May just need a good silicone lube job (giggity)

And you can get a new lock cylinder from the dealer, just give them your VIN and they will have it keyed to your original key.

You can only lock the drivers door when it is shut, supposed to keep you from locking the keys in the car.

    Hope this helps

Bump, for more info. I spoke to my local Brooklyn BMW dealership over the phone just now. I'm definitely not going down there. Nobody sounded like they knew what they were talking about and the customer service was horrible.....even over the phone. I'll try calling one of the dealerships in Manhattan, but before I do that I thought I'd bump this thread for some more advice.

I'd still love to find this thread about the $40 keyless entry install. Will installing the keyless entry solve my problems?

The driver's side door lock not working with the key is due to the lock cylinder falling apart. You can get a lock repair kit for ~$30 from many places (PN 51-21-9-061-343). There are tutorials all over the web, just search for E30 door lock repair or something.

As for the other issues, I have no idea. Fix the driver's door lock (because if the battery dies you'll need a way in), and then install a cheap keyless entry system.
