Found an HU that fits the E30 !

    Guys,

I dont think this is available in US but it is where I live in France.

it is the cheapest Alpine, model CDE-120RM, and it has basically all I need for my Alpina.

I am thinking of selling my new uninstalled CD43 with grom USB/AUX adapter, as it will prove too complicate and expensive to fit.

I think this Alpine looks a bit E30 period and is Amber illuminated.

Tell me what you think !!

Single pre-out, low voltage of course.

Alpine no longer makes their US decks (thank god) but has Matsushita make them instead, so reliability has gotten better. Has USB so the skipping issues won't bother you, right?

Sorry, man. That deck is a pile of crap from the worst manufacturer in car audio. Overpriced, overhyped cheeseball douchebags who could give us decent product if they didn't have to keep feeding their advertising department 70% of the gross profit of the company.

    Alpine blows.

Ha ha ha, Thanks for your input !

it only costs less than 100 Euros though ! By the way Matsushita is Panasonic so it can't be that bad right ??

i think inside this one or another it will be the same components or nearly.

The look is right for E30 though !

      Cheers Pierre

Pioneer is OK, I guess. still doesn't live up to my standards, but I can't seem to find a deck that fits the e30 (reddish amber/ amber, and not a PoS) no matter what price range I look in.

I'd love some input on that, StereoInstaller.

Well i had a pioneer in my touring E30, works ok, horribly complicate to set up, and lighting was red.
I sold the touring, installed the Pioneer in the new Volvo 850 Wagon i bought instead, and it sounds real good, even with no external amp/sub...

The Alpine I am refering to above looks much simpler, and has amber ! That will be perfect for what i need in this car.
the 2.7 Alpina M20 in the front matched to Alpina header and custom Stainless exhaust is better music anyway...

                Cheers Pierre

you are basing your purchase based on æsthetics versus function? When I drive I'm usually watching the road, not my radio.

...but then again i have no radio because you wouldn't be able to hear it in my car anyways

Well yes, that is the whole point of buying a CD43 for a lot of people, but to each his own...

I still like how they look better than most other head units.

Is it really an issue if you're pumping music from an ipod, and using amps?

                          Hi George,

                          Thanks ofr you input.
I personally don't even have an Ipod, and I always listen to music from my USB stick in the car.
I keep my CDs for home use, that is why I have discounted all HU without USB reading facilities.

The look of this Alpine is timeless and will fit the E30 dash well. It is the cheapest model available in France at Euros 99.9

There is no need to start talking about musicality and audiophile experience, as I don't care.

This HU will be better than most of what was offered OEM or aftermarket in an E30 late eighties for a reasonnable price.

I will go for it, and I am sure i will be perfectly happy with it.

                          Cheers Pierre

good buy for your day to day use..a Kenwood isn't available cheaper?

i'm a fan of the old pioneer's, personally i think the new ones kinda suck.
