It's not a Z1, couldn't find one with black face. it's a DTC-A100. It does aux in, and is good enough for me with the alpha processor. Pretty much overkill for the E28 since I still have to deal with the 4x6's in the front :( The combo was under a grand, but not much.
I have a euro center console that I was planning on having covered in leather to match the OEM M5's. I'm planning on replacing the cassette holders underneath the radio with a nice black anodized plate that matches the meters and also acts as a mounting plate for the meter. Our fab flight on base has a killer water jet machine, that i'd love to have them cut out a blank for me with some scrap metal.
I'm doing this for a few reasons.
1. I really, really don't like the vent thinge on the US spec E28's
2. I already have this euro center console which is different
3. I'm a glutton for odd things, so the meter just made me drool!
here's my euro E28's interior:

Eric, did you know I am currently building a tri-amped 5.1 (yes, true 5.1. Possible but stupid fun) CarPC system (nearly 3,000 watts RMS) with 2 electronic crossovers (even the center channel is tri-amped) E28 from hell?

It sounds pretty good so far, looking forward to hearing the 8" DVC woofers under the back seats. Pics to come sooner or later, this thing is silly.

3kW RMS is hilarious. 300W RMS will give me a headache, I don't know what I'd do with 3kW RMS.

Looking at your pics Luke gives me an itch to go pull out all my old car audio equipment I have in storage and do a build.
This is the only time I wish I had a coupe instead of a vert.

My 1989 325i vert (sold)...this is Nina

E31 is baller! I remember when I turned 16 and had a lowley 325e. I would go and drool at hi-fi gear at the high end car audio shop in town. The owner at the time was a doctor and used the shop as a tax write off for all his toys. He had a white 850 with a CSi body kit that was just menacing.
I like your E28 build, got any pictures of the sub? I was planning on putting a normal 10 under the seat, or maybe one of these http://stereointegrity.com/ subs. Why did you choose an 8? What are you doing for the front stage? custom kicks? I don't want to use a 4x6 but I also want the system completely hidden besides the deck and the brax 4 channel.
Have you seen this build in an E46? Good freekin lord that guy has talent! http://www.audiogroupforum.com/csfor...ad.php?t=66958Comment

The sub is a single 12, up against the back seat. As incredible as that E46 is, it can't sound all that good. Those woofers in that tiny airspace just can't perform, especially in the trunk like that. Those installs are incredible, where the trunk is all display, but totally waste the car. I try and keep the trunk as usable as possible. I sure do wish I had more customers with the time/money to do stuff like that! Personally, I am never gonna own a car that is dedicated to show like that, everything I ever own is going to be DD capable...E31 is baller! I remember when I turned 16 and had a lowley 325e. what are the 8's under the seat for then? mid-bass?
Ken - yes the 8250. I'm not sure what model the rockford compaires to, here is a list of Denon head units, and they are all pretty much ridiculous. http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/...ead-units.htmlLast edited by Eric; 11-25-2010, 02:03 PM.Comment
