Also, to further clarify, fuse 1 would have nothing to do with either problem, it's just a convenient 7.5A fuse to swap with. :)

Fuse 10 controls a whole load of things that are tied to the ignition, most obvious is the gauge cluster. If that works, it is a safe assumption that relay is getting power.

Fuses 19 and 20 are the ones controlled by the relay.

As you tested, Fuse 1 should only show power with the high beams on, fuse 10 with the ignition on, and 20 with the ignition on and the car not cranking.

The unloader relays receive +12v from the ignition, and ground out through the starter windings.
I'm thinking there's a fault with the engine harness some where because whenever I unplugged it and re plugged it everything started working again this afternoon. Whose to say how long it will last, but we will see. Just another reason to go ahead and drop in my M50 already.

No my windows were not working. I can't go over it anymore for the time being, my E30 is now 4 odd hours away at my parent's house. I won't be able to drive it back down here for awhile and tinker with it.

Food for thought, the blower stopped working on my car, so I took a known good one out of my other car and it still didn't work. Tons of fuse checking and wire tracing later, ended up the contacts on the fuse board had cracked. I had to resolder them.

After that, problem free blower motor. :)

your unloader relay is not hooked up properly, it is probably grounding out which is why none of that stuff works.

this happen once to a car..
check the switch that starts the heater motor, the one with 1through 4 that could be shorted, the relay on the motor... or
If you have a key chain dangling and touches the turn signal shaft... that can short the fuse too. while car is driving.

Where is the fuse board located?

I think he was talking about the main fuse box board.
