    uhhh my tach is haunted..

    so i've noticed lately my tach likes to go apeshit and jump to 6k and then drop to 0 then point down to the mpg... it's just really annoying but sometimes it dosn't do it. what waffleswaffleswaffles's this mean..?

    if its electric would it be a loose ground?

      my 87 does the same thing. I have researched it and read that it is probably the batteries in the guts of the cluster... just hav ent had time to replace them yet to see if its correct.

          its most likely your SI batteries. they power those green, yellow and red row of lights. if other parts of your cluster are acting up its definitely them. its a pretty easy job to get to them, and then you can either swap in a good/re-manufactured board or try new batteries if the old ones didn't explode.

              yeah, my service light came on and the tach dosen't turn on once in awhile. anyone have an faq on how to change them batteries?
