I have a set of PPI 356cs, and a late model e30.....sorry no pics at the moment but heres what I did....
I took the door skin off and figured out the best location above the map pockets where there was nothing behind the metal.
Then I traced the provided template and use an air cut off tool and cut the door metal an corresponding position in the door skin.
My speakers came with a metal ring that had 4 threaded holes, which i stripped the paint off and welded to the doors, then I drilled 4 holes in the door skins that matched up with the threaded holes in the metal frame, and voila, speakers mounted.
Then to secure the grill cover/holder whatever the hell its called I used 4 self tapping metal screws to hold the grill cover on and bam, well above my knees and great sound1991 318is --- currently not road worthy

I want to put the midrange from newer gen into my car for I heard it was marvelous. How do you like the 2way set and do you have any pics?
