Perhaps an older US amps? My old one looked sexy and was a pleasure to have. The one built in Florida were top notch.

Those were great amps...so many US companies bit the dust.

I miss Linear Power and old Zapco most.

I miss LP's heatsinks. So it's decided? Old school power for this new school bad boy? ;) (about the 13w7) Maybe an old orion hcca amp?

I know what you mean. McIntosh used to be entirely a USA company.

I have had tons of systems ( prob because Im black lol) including a 13"w7 I currently have which is in the jl w7 specific box. I have it pared with a eclipse ax1000 amp and have never been happier!! It hits as hard or harder then my 2 12" with 2 1000 watt mbquarts, but it has a clarity and range I have never gotten out of any other subs

" WHY DO YOU NEED 300HP TO DO THE SPEED LIMIT?"

You have $450 worth of RCA cable in your car Luke?

No, Mac was bought by Clarion back in 1989, the car stuff came out shortly after, then the guys got their shit back together and bought themselves back. The car shit was never even touched by the actual Mac staff, that is why it is so fucking gutless and thin sounding.

Yeah, it is pretty, but crap in my opinion. My Exiles tear it to fucking shreds.

And yes, George, my main 4 channel RCAs retail for about $260, the 2 channel set about $200. Did I pay that? No. Are they worth that? No. Are they as good as Kimber? No. Are they any better than "premium" RCAs from Monoprice? No.

Do I plan on upgrading to a homebrew full Litz/teflon wire set when I go 4 way active? Yessssss...hopefully with actual Zobel compensation networks (Like MIT uses) if I can map it out.

Personally, I prefer the IDMax over the 13W7, but primarily because the IDMax has so much lower MMs, it is "quicker" and has much cleaner transients. Listen to "KODO DRUMMERS" on Sheffield Labs as a pure example of very fast transients at very low frequencies. When you thwack a 480 lb drum, it is low and fast and clean, like pretty much nothing else ever recorded.

Plus, you can tell from the specs that JL were trying to make a woofer that works in any enclosure. ID didn't, their attitude is that if you are buying a woofer in this league, you better have your chops down on box building, or pay someone who does.

Ah - makes perfect sense Luke. Are the monoprice RCA's ok for car use?

So Luke, if one here were to buy old amps on eBay for one of your boxes? What do you recommend? PPI art series?

finally got in touch with my buddy. He can't get anything either since I guess his ex partner no longer owns the company or some shit. Now someone else has the name.
