Back on topic, regarding those JBLs. They look really sweet. And $170 is a huge deal! I am tempted to sell my Zapco i Force 5.2s and get these for the e30. They are really nice but aren't epic speakers. I wonder if the jbl's titanium tweet would be harsh like a mb quart etc etc

JBL metal domes have always been very well damped, always a nice mix of smooth and bright. I have heard the 4" version of these they no longer make, they were awesome.

That would be the tweeter, and yes it can be removed. A phase plug goes in its place.
Concerns: That is a VERY "thick" mouinting flange on the frame. Guys trying to put them in stock locations will have some battles making sure the cone has proper movement.
There have been a few pics of a very nice job spacing the stock panel out, I just don't know where they are.
