    My new Stereo System! -UPDATE-

Today I got a sub/amp/custom box installed. I helped out while Luke (StereoInstaller1) did the brunt of the work. I bought his old box/sub setup and used one of the amps layin around as well as a HU layin around and he helped me install it. Other than some fixable problems with the HU all went well and it sounds fuckin great. :nice: This is not however a setup for audiophiles, but soon it will be quite respectable. I plan to replace the HU, but i've not decided what i'll get yet, all four mids, and get separate tweets for the front. I also plan on getting another amp, if not two. But anyway, what everyone wants to see, PICS :D

PS: I will update this thread when I install new components!

Paint/Vinyl/Carpet the front of the box. If your arm rest folds down.

And fix the carpet spot you missed ;)

    Sold it.

You going to the PNW picnic?

I'll have to check it out there.

Any word on what Luke has up his sleeve for his system?

Thats actually not a missed part of the carpet but a gap exagerated by flash and angle between the false panel and the amp.

I don't have an armrest in the back so it doesn't matter, yet.

Yes I do plan on going to the picnic, but I'm not sure if there is a finalized plan yet on how OR peeps are caravaning up.

I have somewhat of an idea as to what Luke is planning, but I'm pretty sure he wants to make it a surprise so if I told you I would have to do this to you:

            Thanks for all the feedback.

              Thanks, Nathan.
I was really happy to make some sound happen for you. It was nice to hang out with you today, and thanks again for the parts and the help making my ignition switch repair happen. Having my car sitting with no steering wheel lock was not fun, let me tell you!

And for the stereo in my car...
3 amps, 5 speakers and no deck in the dash is pretty much all I can tell you here and now. I will be taking my camera to work for the next few weeks though.

              Luke

Well, today I worked on what will eventually be a docking station for my iPod. Here are some pics of how it is progressing:

I think black vinyl (same stuff jordan used to cover his hold speaker pods) would look a lot better. Nice idea though!

Forgot to mention that I'm going to fiberglass that and sand/bondo and then cover it in vinyl. Same as Jordan did for his speaker pods. This is a work in progress.

Nathan, I am starting to think you may want to back up and rotate the thing a bit, not much, but just a bit counter-clockwise. I know you have a bunch of time into it already, but starting over while still in progress is WAY less painful than not being satisfied with your work. Think of all of the used projects you saw at my shop...think of the hundreds already gone in the dumpster!

It still looks sweet, by the way, good work!

I debated with myself whether or not I wanted it pointed towards the driver or not and decided to go towards the driver like the rest of the dash. It's easy enough that I go back and make another if I decide I'd rather it match the center console instead of the dash.

                        Thanks for the input!

How does it sound? I have the same sub, surprising how loud it is for a crappy little sub :P

I think it sounds decent. It is a little muddy, and it is hard to pass judgment on the rest of the system as I've not put it in yet, but all in all I'm happy with the sound. I'm using mp3's to drive the system so, not expecting to much.

Nice job so far on the install, but I don't like how the whole area where the ashtray and storage area are now just one big flat panel. I myself would never want to lose those 2 items, they are very useful to me, and I don't like the way it looks without them. But it looks like you're doing a good job nonetheless.
