Can stock premium speakers handle 90 watts per channel or will they be overwhelmed by that?

I dont think they have a very high ratting. But Like with any driver more power is better. Just listen to see if you are over driving the speaker. Id honeslty say that if you crank it then you may blow one of them. The tweeters can take some abuse more so than the woofers.sigpic"If one does not fail at times, then one has not challenged himself." -Ferdinand Porsche

I will be using the amp that the PO put in, it's an Alpine V-Power MRP-F550. The thing is, I don't want to run a sub. I have read (from your other postings) that the stock premium speakers are the best to run without a sub. I'm not sure what's in there now for speakers, but it's some aftermarket speaker that is in all of the stock locations.

So, if you already have the amp installed, just try dropping in a set of PS midranges, you will at least get some bass of some kind.
Gentle with the volume control though, OK?

I checked my car today, the speakers are Focals. I have actually never heard them before (I bought my car and it went straight into a 24V swap). Is Focal a good quality brand? Does anybody have experience with Focal speakers? Any input as to whether I would be better off sticking with those or swapping everything out to factory premium (again without using a sub for either set-up)? Obviously I need to hear them before making a decision, but I want to have an idea of what I'm doing with my car once the motor swap is done, and what I already have in my car from the PO.

What I want to know is why you are so anti-subwoofer...you know not every subwoofer is for children to "boom the hood", right?
Shortly here I will be releasing the 8" E30 box. Super small, light, and removable.
Those Focals are gonna be miserable with no sub, they are midrange only. Power them up and see what you think...you just might be one of those people who just don't care about audio performance.

I guess I have just never heard crisp high-quality bass in a car before (and I've never heard a Luke Box). Give me an idea of cost for an 8" box and a decent woofer out the door. If it's in the neighborhood of what I can sell my complete premium speaker set that I just bought for, I'm willing to give it a go. If I hate it, I can sell it. I have ridden in cars before with that awful bass turned up way too loud noise and I hate it. On the other hand, I do love clean bass in a home theater system. Like I said, if it doesn't add to much cost to my budget audio build, I'm game for trying it.
So, with an 8" sub, Alpine amp, and Focal speakers, will I have a decent sounding audio system?
