    Tuning jensen amp question

Quick question- I'm trying to tune this amp. Should I have the crossovers on the amp switched to FULL or HPF? I thought I should should switch channels 1/2 and 3/4 to HPF and set them accordingly but the manual for the amp says to set to full for 5ch operation.

My setup FYI: Infinity 1062w sub / Infinity kappa 50.9cs front and rear components, all powered from Jensen 5500 amp.

here's a pic of what I'm talking about:

I would recommend running CH1/2/3/4 in HPF mode just to protect the mids, UNLESS you are running component sets with passive crossovers and those crossovers have HPFs for the mids in them already. Look through the manual to see what frequency CH5's LPF is set for and try to set the other channels' HPF to the same one.

What all are you driving with this amp? It isn't suitable to drive 2 mids & 2 tweeters directly unless you have a passive crossover protecting the tweeters, OR you have an active crossover before the amp. It looks like it was designed for 4 passively crossed-over mid/tweeter speakers & a sub.

my components have passive crossovers. i still feel like i should be setting a HPF rather than running on full. Not sure about the sub's LPF I'll try do dig up some info.

and this is the way i should wire my sub, correct?

Yeah, that's how you'd put the 4 Ohm VCs in parallel to get 2 Ohm impedance.

Yeah, find out what the sub channel is LPFed at and try to set the other 4 channels' HPF to that frequency. If I had to guess, I'd say set them to ~110Hz to start. Just play around with them until it sounds good to you.

          EDIT:
DUH. There's a LPF dial on the 5th channel. Set that to 120Hz to start, as well as the other 4 channels. Then tweak as needed. Generally, try to keep them at the same frequency. You aren't going to get it exact since those pot's are probably like 10% tolerance parts. If things are in the same ballpark though, it's cool.

I'd also recommend setting the CH5 "Sub Sonic" filter to 20-30Hz. That is there to protect the sub from really low frequencies where it might resonate itself to death.
