Luke worked with me, much to his pain I'm sure, to make sure that a specific 8" woofer I was looking to use would fit in his 8" box. I paypaled Luke once we confirmed fitment and space, and I had a tracking number for the box in less than 5 days. Luke told me ahead of time he'd build the box upon payment, which I was perfectly fine with.

The box was delivered by the kind man in the brown truck in less than a week after that. It was expertly packaged, with some additional protective reinforcements in the box to ensure it wasn't damaged.

The first thing I noticed upon opening the packaging was that Luke had already gone ahead and wrapped the entire box in a beautiful fabric that is a near spot on match to the OEM trunk. I didn't expect this to be the case, and it was an amazing bonus!!!

I immediately pulled the sub out of it's box and test fit it in the GAS box. It fit like it was the only sub ever designed to be in the box. It is amazing how tight it fits, and how clean the whole layout is.

The box itself is tiny! This thing won't take up much space at all in the trunk. This was a huge concern for me, as the opening on an M3 trunk is already small, so losing additional space would have been a deal breaker for me. At this point, I'm not sure if the box will even be large enough to mount my Boston Acoustics GT-50 amp to. I may need to build a false wall to mount the amp.

I haven't had a chance to install it yet, but I am ecstatic to get it in and wired up. It is surprisingly light, and it appears to be built strong enough to survive a nuclear holocaust. Luke, German Audio Specialties (GAS), builds amazing products. I will never hesitate to purchase a product from GAS again for any vehicle I own.

I've been around E30's for almost 15 years. I've seen hundreds of audio installs, from home-hack jobs to "high end" installs. All I can say is I have NEVER seen a sub box built with this level of attention, detail, and care.

I will post up the most important part, the audio experience, once I get it installed.

Thank you again Luke! You've earned a customer for life.

I want to get my hands on that woofer!

Is yours sealed into the cabin, or just sitting in your trunk? Care to post a pic?

Oh. Well, that makes more sense.

If you want that level of performance, I can kick its ass for less than half the cost of a new W7, especially in an E30, especially if it is in a sealed box.

If you just want good, solid, clean bass, do the single 10 box. It is easily the best bang for the buck you will ever hear. If all out performance is the goal, look at the Beast boxes, and if tiny/light is the goal, I offer the 8" LTW box that is detailed in this thread.

Oh yeah, almost forgot: I do make a normal 12" box. It is pretty well known for making very loud, great sounding bass. You can expect 135db with a $100 woofer and a $100 amp...

I am definitely thinking about this box, but as you have read I am elbow deep in projects already. Perhaps in the next week or two... I could come pick it up and a red alarm LED too.

The best bang for the buck is:

    Pioneer DEH6300
    MB Quart 60.4
    Infinity Reference 8" SVC
    Stock Premium speakers

Properly tuned, this setup would play very nicely.

    VERY nicely.

I take that back, it looks like it's going to fit if I install that before the strut bar.

Very interested now that i have ski pass rear seats. Gotta sell more parts to make more money to buy this... lol. I don't know what to install though. Idk anything about what powers what. I need spoon feeding on this. I just want a dolby surround sound effect in my car. I was spoiled by my volvo with the hk's

OK, so the box is a 2 part thing, and you have some choices.

Just today I pulled the test mule from the car so I can get some less crappy pics.

Yes, it really is that thin:

I only have this shot of it installed. It is so far under the rear deck it is very hard to photograph

As far as pricing, it is $250 for the box and $25 for the amp rack. Shipping should be roughly the same as the 10" box. I can likely get it to Fremont for about $30.

There are LOTS of size variance between 8" woofers so make sure and tell me what you are thinking before you buy!

The thing is just a kick. No one who looks in the trunk first believes it. I always show it off with "Get Ready" from Sublime, then drop "Caress Me Down"...the mirrors are shaking, the bass is clean and deep, plenty of loud...and I point out I only have 140 watts running the bass. "NFW" is the most common comment.

To be fair, this car has a cloth rear seat with half the foam over the skipass taken out, so the seat does not effect the sound much, but the thing still kicks ass. If you are OK with the looks, port the seat. It works really well.

I think an Infinity Reference 8 and MB Quart 60.4 would just kill my setup. It takes so little to make these cars just rock. Shove a deck with high pass filters in and use stock Premium Sounds all the way around, you will be happy. Go all crazy and put a decent set of component speakers in and you will be shocked. Use 5 channels of decent power and a decent deck and you will post stuff like Greg did up a couple of posts...that car just plain sounds good. As in NOT "good for an 8"" or "good for how small it is" or "good for how little I spent"...but just plain good.

    Luke
