I was recently working on installing a new radio in my 84 318i and i had just finished wiring it, turned it on and it worked. Then i put the radio into the slot and started up my car and blam, no dice not only did the radio not work my speedo also went out. Also the power wires for the radio were not giving off voltage. Im pretty new to E30s so i was wondering if anyone had any insight or advice. Thanks!

My guess is you have improperly insulated the wiring, and have now caused a short, thus popping a fuse.
Have you taken it back out to inspect? -

sounds like fuse 12 is blown. always disconnect battery when working with anything electrical.

After the radio and speedo stop working i checked the fuses however when you guys said to check them i decide to recheck specifically 12 and yes that fuse was toast i must have accidentally missed it, Thank you very much.Comment
